International Recognition

  • The GMSC’s environmental leadership is recognized at an international level.  GMSC has been invited to make presentations at various national and international conferences at locations such as New Zealand, Norway, China, Hungary, Turkey and Nepal.

  • In 2007, GMSC hosted a World Environmental Conference entitled “Wastewater Biosolids Sustainability: Technical, Managerial and Public Synergy”. This conference was held jointly with the 4th Canadian Organic Residuals and Biosolids Management Conference. The conference was the first of its kind to be held globally and involved global experts and representatives from the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the World Bank and 44 countries involving more than 450 delegates.

  • GMSC, in partnership with the United Nations (UN-Habitat) lead the creation and publication of the “Global Atlas of Excreta, Wastewater Sludge, and Biosolids Management:  Moving Forward the Sustainable and Welcome Uses of a Global Resource.  The 2008 publication runs to 608 pages and chronicles excreta, wastewater sludge, and biosolids management practices in 37 countries and regions throughout the world, with reports on sanitation in 59 jurisdictions.
     

  • GMSC achieved in 2010 the NBP-EMS Certification designation and is the first Canadian and International Organization to be certified and admitted to the National Biosolids Partnership (NBP) EMS program.
